The overflight of the Frecce Tricolori over the lagoon city is scheduled for Saturday 29 May and will be preceded by a test tomorrow, Friday 28 May, by two aircraft of the National Aerobatic Team. The event aims once again to underline the excellence of Made in Italy in a historical moment in which the country is gradually starting again, giving a new impetus to economic, cultural and social activities that have long been limited due to the pandemic.

“The National Aerobatic Team has among its tasks that of representing the ability of the Air Force and all the Armed Forces to team up ” said the Commander of the Frecce Tricolori, Lieutenant Colonel Gaetano Farina in view of the event. “We are particularly proud to take part in this international event and to be able to represent the country in this particular moment of heartfelt and concrete relaunch, the result of a joint commitment from the whole country”.

“Thanks to the Frecce Tricolori which, with their overflight not only pay homage to the Boat Show and Venice but will be the tangible symbol of a city that wants to come back to life and to welcome all those who wish to come and visit it because they have it in their hearts”, declared the mayor Luigi Brugnaro. “Seeing the Tricolor trail in the sky above the Arsenale will be a unique emotion and a great recognition for an exhibition that celebrates the people of the sea and a millenary tradition that today focuses on innovation and sustainability. Thanks again to all of you and your beautiful gesture ”.

The passage in flight of the Frecce Tricolori aircraft over the Venetian capital is part of the broader celebrations of 2021 for the 1600 years of Venice . A 2021 full of anniversaries also for the Air Force: this year in fact the National Aerobatic Team celebrates the 60th anniversary of its establishment.

The MB339PAN aircraft of the Frecce Tricolori will fly for the first time in an official event with new celebratory liveries, made on the tail fins and on the sides of the fuselage, which recall the emblems and names of the Patrols of the various Operational Departments of the Air Force that in the 1950s they took turns in the task of representation then assigned to the 313th “Frecce Tricolori” Acrobatic Training Group, set up at the Rivolto airport (UD).
