Auckland, New Zealand – 1/27/2021 – New York Yacht Club American Magic, the U.S. Challenger for the 36th America’s Cup, on Wednesday re-launched its racing yacht, PATRIOT, for the first time since a damaging capsize and near-sinking suffered by the team during a Prada Cup Round Robins race on January 17. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ), and the China Sports Industry Group (CSIG) have announced that CSIG will become an official partner of Emirates Team New Zealand, the Defender of the 36th America’s Cup. China Sports & Communication International (CSCI), a subsidiary of CSIG, has been authorized to handle this partnership. In extremely light conditions, all three teams spent large portions of both races held on Saturday in “displacement mode,” fighting hard to find any and all pressure on the inner-harbor race course near Auckland’s North Head.
