IOC Approves Men’s and Women’s Kiteboarding as Sailing’s 10th Medal Event for Paris 2024

Bristol, Rhode Island – 6/10/2021 – Today World Sailing was informed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the IOC Executive Board approved Men’s and Women’s Kiteboarding (Formula Kite) for the Paris 2024 Olympic Sailing Competition. The Men’s and Women’s Kiteboarding Events will replace the Mixed Kiteboarding and Mixed Offshore Events that were democratically selected by World Sailing’s members and remained World Sailing’s first-choice events for Paris 2024. Railey & Buckingham Finish Top 10 at the 2021 ILCA European Continental Qualifier in Vilamoura, Portugal

Vilamoura, Portugal – 4/24/2021 – The 2021 ILCA European Continental Qualifiers ended on Saturday, April 24 following a week of varying breeze and swell in Vilamoura. USA Tokyo 2020 representatives Paige Railey (Clearwater, Fla.) and Charlie Buckingham (Newport Beach, Calif.) finished in the top 10 among fleets of 89 and 139, respectively. Bristol, Rhode Island – 4/7/2021 – The first-ever Junior Pan American Games is set to take place on September 9 – 19, 2021 in Cali, Colombia. This international multi-sport event is for athletes in the Americas aged 18 to 21. Athletes from 41 countries will participate in this first edition. Us Sailing team: Lanzarote International Regatta wraps-up in Spain

Lanzarote, Canary Islands – 3/26/2021 – Racing wrapped on Friday, March 26 with the completion of the final gold fleet race and medal race for both the 49er and 49erFX classes. All five American skiffs qualified for the gold fleet after three days of opening series racing that placed them in the top 25. The location, opportunity and importance of the event attracted a deep fleet of Olympic class talent. Stephanie Roble (East Troy, Wis.) and Maggie Shea (Wilmette, Ill.) finished the gold fleet in the top 10, which promoted them to the final medal race. After finishing fifth in the medal race, the FX team ended the event with an eighth-place finish overall.  […]
